On the Sunday before April 4, our family collects to make offerings to our Ancestors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On the day of the event, we meet in Chinatown in the morning and go first to Mt. Hope and then to Forest Hills. At each grave, we plant some flowers, light incense and candles, and offer food. We bow three times, pour the wine, refill the glasses, burn money, bow three times again, and then eat some of the food. After the observances, we usually all have lunch together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wongways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/01-04-07_1212.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-4\" title=\"Hong_Wong\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wongways.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/01-04-07_1212-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Food offerings<br \/>\nChicken<br \/>\nRoast Pork<br \/>\nTwo boiled eggs cut into halves<br \/>\nWhite rice cakes<br \/>\nYellow rick cakes<br \/>\nThree bowls of rice<br \/>\nThree cups of wine<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Specifically, we visit our great grandfather at the Mt. Hope Cemetery and our grandparents at the Forest Hills Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Directions to Great Grandfather&#8217;s Grave:<br \/>\nEnter the main gate.<br \/>\nTake the leftish straight road into the cemetery.<br \/>\nDrive until your reach the fork.<br \/>\nTake the left fork.<br \/>\nDrive to the fence.<br \/>\nTake a Right.<br \/>\nThe grave is a couple &#8220;blocks&#8221; down on the right.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Directions to Grandparents&#8217; and Parents&#8217; Graves:<br \/>\nEnter the main gate.<br \/>\nTake a left and drive until you&#8217;re in the Chinese section of the Cemetery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chinese Memorial Day occurs on the 104th day after the Winter equinox, generally around April 4.
